The Kathy Budner Award of Excellence

Purpose of this award: To honor Kathy Budner, who was the first Executive Director of Powhatan Chamber of Commerce (1992 to 2008). Kathy demonstrated a selfless contribution to local businesses and to the chamber.

This award seeks to recognize a member of the Powhatan Chamber who reflects Kathy’s work ethic, business dedication, and contributions to the Powhatan community.

This year's recipient is:

Ralph Larry Lyons
President and Chief Executive Officer of Central Virginia Bank

Larry was the first President of the Powhatan Chamber, remaining in that position for 5 years. He is to be congratulated for establishing the strong foundation that has allowed the Chamber to grow into the successful organization we have today.

The number of Larry’s Board and organization affiliations to which he donates his time and expertise is impressive. Larry is also recognized for his generous support of many local non-profit organizations’ events, not the least of which is the Chamber’s own wine festival (our annual fundraiser). He is always willing to consider event sponsorships, and encourage his employees to volunteer their time.

Our community of Powhatan, and chamber would not be what they are today without Larry’s leadership, and support.

The recipient of the award will be recognized with the following:

• Honored at the annual Powhatan Chamber of Commerce January social.
• Receive an award clock.
• Chamber donation of $ 1000. presented to a charity of recipient’s choice.
• Recipient’s photo & name will be highlighted on the Award plaque displayed in the Chamber office.
• Highlighted in the Chamber Newsletter and on the website, and the county newspaper of record.
